JULIA RICH
Spin cycle. The opposite of spin cycle. My life is like: spin cycle,
the opposite of spin cycle. It's like the spin cycle because there is
movement involved, and some variations, like the articles of clothing
I'm washing, darks or colors pants bedsheets, and the settings I'm
using, delicate, hot, cold, whatever, but it's all happening in one
place, in the same old laundry washing device. The spin is basically
exciting, round and round it goes, but the timing and stages are
regimented by the device, in parts, from revving up to winding down,
in order to get the job done, to get the clothes cleaner than when
they started. The clothes come out a little different each time, maybe
lighter articles are tinted by black cotton socks I threw in there, or
the detergent I bought fades some
t-shirts, or everything is a little faded, a little dryer looking, but
the phases of the wash itself are the same. This is just like my life.
The same basic elements, the same needs addressed: the water rises,
the soap gets sudsy, wash, wash wash, rinse, rinse, drain and spin to
get rid of excess water. "I'm running a load".
